Terms of Use

In short

Who you are agreeing with

RecipeSesame is run by one person, based in Germany. For anything about these terms, or to report content, email hello@recipesesame.app.

The service

RecipeSesame lets you import recipes from links, photos and pasted text, organise them, plan meals and build shopping lists. It is free to use.

It is a small project run by one person. Features can change or disappear, and there is no promised level of availability. We will not delete your recipes without telling you.

Your account

You can start using RecipeSesame as a guest, without an email. Guest sessions live on one device and are removed automatically after 60 days of inactivity. Adding an email keeps everything you saved and makes it reachable from other devices.

RecipeSesame is not for children under 16. If you are under 16, please do not create an account.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

Your content

Recipes you write, photos you upload and lists you build stay yours. We claim no ownership of them.

To run the app we need permission to store your content, process it (including sending it to the AI providers listed in our privacy policy) and show it back to you, and to people you deliberately share it with, such as guests you send a gathering link to. That permission lasts only as long as you keep the content in the app.

Only upload things you are allowed to upload. Importing a recipe for your own use is normally fine; republishing someone else's photos or text as your own is not.

What you may not do

Do not use RecipeSesame to store, send or share:

Illegal content is removed as soon as we know about it, the account goes with it, and we report it where the law requires us to.

Do not use the import and AI features as a general file host or a free AI endpoint. They exist to turn recipes into recipes.

Reporting something

If you find content on RecipeSesame that breaks these rules, email hello@recipesesame.app with a link or enough detail to find it, and what is wrong with it. We will look at every report and remove anything that should not be here. If content is clearly illegal we will act on it whether or not anyone reports it.

AI, and why you should not trust it with your health

Recipes are read and tidied up by AI. It misreads things. Quantities, times, steps, tags and nutrition figures can all be wrong, and imported text can be incomplete.

Allergen and dietary labels are hints, never a guarantee. They are worked out from an ingredient list that may itself be wrong, and a missing label does not mean an ingredient is absent. If you or someone you cook for has an allergy or intolerance, check the original source and the actual packaging. Do not make a medical decision based on anything this app tells you.

Nutrition figures are estimates. Treat them as a rough guide, not a measurement.

Removing content and closing accounts

We can remove content and suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why first, except for anything illegal, where we act immediately. You can delete your recipes in the app at any time, or email us to delete your account and everything in it.

Liability

RecipeSesame is provided as it is, free of charge. We do not promise it will always work, be available, or be free of errors, and we are not responsible for a recipe that turns out badly.

Nothing here limits our liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Changes

These terms will change as the app does. The date at the top says when they last did. If a change matters to you we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.

RecipeSesame is free. If we ever add a paid option, it will not take anything away from people already using the app: you keep your recipes and everything you could already do, at no cost.

Governing law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in.
